Commodore’s Welcome
Hi Everybody
My name is Ian Smith and I’m extremely proud to undertake the role of Commodore for the 2024 Pike & Eel Boat Club season.
Our 2024 diary of events has been finalised and we have an exciting and varied diary of events lined up, including cruising options to: –
- ST Ives Nobles Field
- Hemmingford
- Brampton
- 5 miles from Anywhere (located on the beautiful River Cam)
Plus, we have increased our shore-based options this year, so if you fancy a Mexican Themed Night or a Jamaican Reggae Rave Up or one of many other events, I’m sure you will find plenty to get excited about! (See Website diary page for full list of events)
Our membership is very friendly, and often have impromptu ‘get togethers’ at the marina, we have our beautiful and unique thatched clubhouse around which we meet and socialise. The club has a large BBQ and fire pit which are great favourites and are brought out on a regular basis. For larger more formal events such as the Regatta (5th-7th July 2024 with a theme of ‘My Big Fat Greek Regatta’) we put up our marquees to give us privacy and protection from any weather which the boating gods might throw at us. We also have two formal events in the year (Commodores Welcome Party and the Laying Up Supper) which feature sit down meals plus entertainment in the main Pike & Eel Hotel.
The marina has almost finishing renewing all the old wooden pontoons and Matthew & Sally our new marina managers are hoping to introduce several new additional facilities for the forthcoming season. Watch this space for details!!!!
The Pike & Eel Marina has lots to offer, and the friendly nature of the club makes it a venue not to be missed, why not come, and see for yourself and enjoy a drink or two with our members.
